Where Do We Go From Here?

by Joe Durocher

I was thinking about things going on in Canada right now and this verse kept coming to my mind.
2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
First, the Lord says if we will 1) humble ourselves, 2) pray, 3) seek His face and 4) turn from our wicked ways, then He will do three things: 1) hear from heaven, 2) forgive our sin and 3) heal our land.

We are at an intense time in history. People have very different mentalities and ideologies of how life should be lived and how countries should be run.  Everyone seems to have an opinion and everyone thinks they have the answer and that their opinion is the right one.   At the end of the day we are all sinners and our goodness and opinions do not add up to much.  We can go through the bible and our history books and see that there have been very similar times in history where countries or people groups stray far from God and end up at war with themselves or others and end up in very bad shape. The solution is always the same. When they come back to God things begin to change.

Have we tied Gods hands in our own lives and in Canada because we refuse to humble ourselves, pray, seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways?

I do not think most people realize the magnitude that the consequences of the present day events will have on our immediate future.  Many of us bury our heads in our phones or are just mesmerized and confused by all that is happening.  Free speech and censorship is on the rise, Google, Facebook and other social media sites are filtering what things you are allowed to see and what comes up in your searches. The main stream media and social media giants have been experimenting for years on perfecting their ability to shape people’s thoughts and opinions within days of an event to push agenda’s that are harmful to our us as citizens and to our nation as a whole.

We live in a democracy where we are all shaped and live according to the laws of the land. We are 2 months out from the most important election of our lifetimes. We need to humble ourselves, pray, seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways. Along with this we all need to take the time to ask God for direction in what our responsibility is in this upcoming election. We all can easily get caught up in our own lives, churches, programs, jobs etc. and forget that although God cares for each of our own individual circumstances, he is also the creator of the earth and has a vision and heart for the nations. Looking back over history and seeing how nations have changed direction, either for the good or bad, change in government vision always is a key element in the process. Living in a country that allows us the freedom to vote our elected officials has been taken for granted by many of us but it can’t be anymore. If we are going to see positive change in Canada in our laws and agendas, we will need leaders in government that will have the vision, intelligence and courage to stand up for positive change.

Do we look to the government as a saviour to all our problems? Absolutely not, but when we are seeking God and God begins to move in a nation, the hearts of the people begin to hunger for Godly leadership because we understand that Godly leadership will bring about blessing not only in Canada but will then become a positive influence throughout the world. There is no major party that we can say is a Godly party, but there are definitely candidates for MP positions that are Godly candidates and we need to support these individuals as much as possible.

Take the time to get to know who is running for MP in your riding. Find out what they stand for, ask them questions. Get engaged and volunteer for the candidates that are out to see positive change. If you are in a riding where you don’t have a candidate that you feel is worthwhile supporting but you want to volunteer or get engaged you can contact us at admin@4mycanada.ca and we will help you get in contact with a candidate that we know will make a difference.
